Last week, the Mozilla Developer Center switched from using MediaWiki to being powered by MindTouch Deki. This transition was obviously not one we took lightly, since it was quite a big job; in fact, we’ve been working on it since late last year.

In the end, we decided that the benefits to switching made it worth the effort. We now have a user-friendly what-you-see-is-what-you-get editor, a much easier to work with scripting system for customizations, no need to patch the software to make it do what we need, and a polyglot solution that allows all our localizations to live in a single wiki.

On top of all that, we’re working directly with MindTouch to add features to their software to make Deki fit our needs even better. In fact, their enthusiasm to work with us to improve their software was probably the number one reason we decided to make the switch.
