Here you can share your ideas the new questions with others. We would love to see the community members asking questions about the ways other communities work, feel and think. After all, the Community Survey project is—in its very concept—a means of communication and a way of learning more about others.
So, please do not hesitate. Can you think of something your community is proud of and would you like to learn how other communities handle it? Or, maybe a particular issue has been bothering you for some time and you are curious how the others have managed it? Are you having mixed feeling about a new project that is about to launch? Not sure what decision to make? Please ask! And if the question’s good, we will publish it soon!
The authors of the questions selected for publishing will receive a Mozilla T-shirt. We don’t require you to leave us your contact data, but please try to make sure it’ll be possible to contact you if you share your ideas here.
Please post in English. If you prefer to write in your native language, propose the question on your favorite local Mozilla site and surely
someone will be kind enough to translate it for you.

Hi! My name is Federico Stock and I’m from Difunde Firefox.
In first place, I would like to recommend to create an interface where the members of the community can choose which kind of survey they want to propose, and then, complete the different fields with the questions or options they have in mind. I just think that would make things easier for everyone, and will give a chance to people who don’t know how to speak english.
About the questions, I think that maybe asking about which kind of mail manager people prefer, will be useful to give a hand proyect Thunderbird. This question was asked at Difunde Firefox and we had interesting results. The options would be, for example:
- WebMail
- Mozilla Thunderbird
- Outlook
- Outlook Express
After this question, some other questions could be added to lear more about why users chose each of those mail managers. It would be nice, maybe, to ask an open question, so people can write a little bit and express their opnions (if they want to).

Make more locales on extensions by default!
When extensions published on AMO, it will be great if all of them includes a well formed en-US locale, making localizations faster and easier!
We spend lot of time in making and remaking locales, instead of translating extensions…
Make sunbird and thunderbird sync with palm and palm desktop.

I really would appreciate if TB could sync with palm Treo phones, as already said by Vincent.
But for me the main added value would be modifi the address book and calendars in TB, in order to store all my address books and calendars in a separate folder, as already it happens with mails and news.

i have a proposition for firefox, I hope it could be useful.
I think it could be good if we could create some kinds of spaces, a bit link in photoshop. For each “space”, we could choose which toolbar we want to display or not, etc…
And with a keyboard shortcut, it would be very easy to switch between each space…

alles ist ganz Prima, nur das fast alle Seiten /Erweiterungen/Add ons / usw. scheinbar nur in Englisch verfügbar sind nervt, die wenigsten werden wohl der englischen Sprache so mächtig sein das sie auch alles zu 100% verstehen was sie sich da an Programmen/Erweiterungen runterladen.
Wer möchte sich schon etwas runterladen was er nicht richtig verstehen oder bedienen kann ?
Das wird auch ein Grund sein weshalb viele von Mozilla und Thunderbird Abstand nehmen, zumindest aber von allen weiteren angebotenen Features.
Würde mir sehr wünschen eben alles Verfügbare auch in der jeweiligen Landessprache anzubieten, und nicht wie es zur Zeit ist ein Sprachengemisch auf den Seiten anzubieten. Erste Hinweise sind Deutsch, dann landet man auf einmal wieder auf einer englisch verfassten Seite, das kann es doch nicht sein !?

Ich hab ein Problem mit Mozilla Firefox und zwar wenn ich das programm starte is das haupt fenster leer und ich kann auch nix eingeben oder anklicken.
Habe auch schon paar mal versucht es neu zu installieren doch da verändert auch nix!!!
J’ai chargé firefox des les debuts, très bon produit, des mises a jour ont étées faites automatiquement, sauf la derniere qui plantait, (certains fichiers n’ont pu etre chargé) et ce à chaque démarrage!
J’ai donc désinstallé le programme entierement et essayé d’installer les versions 2009, 20010 et 20011, le setup me dit invariablement cannot output.
Au secours, si conseils, utilisez mon mail, merçi.

i once loved google, but i despise it now.
i do not doubt, that most of the applications and techniques developed by google are impressing and -at least for a short time- useful. only think of google earth, maps, etc.
therefore my probably controversial proposal: stop making google the standard search engine in firefox and maybe even go one step further: develop a new, non-profit charitable search engine. because being charitable and useful for mankind is, what google occupies for themselves but what is not true.
the open directory project is probably no real alternative as it is a catalogue and no search engine, true?
i am looking forward to hearing some opinions.

But I have a freedom to say some things and my own dreams about Firefox.
At first, I think, that Linux versions of Firefox and others Mozilla’s programms must to be in *.rpm or *.deb packages, because many users can’t compile source code. In packages it will be more easy.
What do you think about 3D interface? I think, that it’s very main, because Mozilla must’nt to stay in one place, without any coordinalety(sorry foe English, I know) changes. Many OS have 3D interface, and why Mozilla don’t follow by this?
Why Firefox haven’t integrated Java\Flash programms? Why users must to download this packages? If Mozilla Firefox - best of the best internet browser, why Opera or IE have Java\Flash libraries on default?
New versions of Firefox work very slow on old computers(for example, mine: Duron 800, 256 mb RAM). And, for example, new versions of Opera work without any troubles? It’s very bad for Firefox(or for bad computers, but developer of internet browser must to follow of users equipment!). And, in new versions of Linux I use Konqueror.)But I love Firefox).
I can’t upgrade my Mandriva’s Firefox! He write me, that he can’t find any upgrades! My version: 1.0.2. Or it’s troubles of Mandriva? Or troubles of myself?

warum sind meine eigenen Einstellungen bei Mozilla Firefox täglich verstellt. Die Lesezeichen sind täglich verschwunden, die Einstellungen unter Extras sind täglich von selbst umgestellt wie bei der Erstinstallation.

ich habe fairfox frisch heruntergeladen um das Programm mit IE vergleichen zu können. Was mir zuerst aufgefallen ist: die schnelligkeit mit der die meistem Seiten geöffnet werden, Vorteil Fairfox. Was mir schon zu schaffen macht ist dieses Grundsätzliche Englisch, auch auf dieser Seite. Nichts gegen Englisch aber ich bin Deutscher und spreche/lese meine Muttersprache liebend gern. Ich glaube das Programm Fairfox würde immensen Erfolg haben in Deutschland gäbe es eine komplette Deutschfassung oder eine integrierte automatische Übersetzung. Das wäre doch machbar.
Nun muß ich noch weiter üben, also bis später.
Hi, why not to create 3d ui? so user can see all pages at once, and rotate(for example, cube) to see something else? or another idea - show tooltip on the top, when mouse rolls over the button with site caption. Future is 3d. Why not to start it now? About question - I think that very interesting question to people would be - why you are not using other browsers, and add there a combobox with resident’s job, so it will be easy to target people, and see what each group of people likes more in firefox(other software) than others.

I think it is possible and would be very useful to integrate a thing like favorite watch. The function is to look at changes of all special webpages when firefox goes online and makes it easy to handle. Maybe there is already something related, but let me describe:
It should be easy realised with the combination of the cache and the bookmark-management.
- mark a bookmark as watched and label optional for alert at startup (and shutdown)
- decide wich period looking for changes and
- how long these results (and how many) to be stored
- configure what kind of changes is to be watched
- then through the bookmarks it is visible if the page was changed since the last visit
- changes can be highlighted and the user decides if the old version is keeping stored
There are definitely some more additional features possible but that is the main thing. No extra application and only local client controlled!

Hallo ich bin begeisterter Firefox-Nutzer ich habe diesen Browser auch schon vielen Freunden Weiterempfolen, ich bin beeindruckt von der Schnellichkeit und der Vielfältichkeit von Firefox ich habe sofort meinen IE7 runtergelöscht weil ich wirklich beeindruckt von Firefox war aber ich habe eine Anregung ich würde mir für die neue Firefox Version ein bisschen mehr Farbe wünschen und vieleicht eine Seitenvorschau bei den Tabs. Außerdem würde ich mir vorstellen wenn Firefox einen Automatischen Übersetzer hat das alle englisch sprachigen Seiten auch in Deutsch angezeigt werden, das sich der Markt Anteil sehr steiger würde.

Wied Firefox bald einen Marktanteil in Deutschland von über 40% haben würde mich freuen wenn es viele Firefox Nutzer gibt.
Sarebbe utile in quelle pagine che presentano molti link, anzichè selezionarne uno per volta con : “apri in una nuova scheda” la possibilità di selezionarli tutti assieme (magari selezionandoli tutti il tasto destro del mouse) e con un comando unico aprire tante nuove schede tanti quanti sono i link selezionati

Mon commentaire,sur le navigateur Mozilla Firefox est très bien,mais je lui reproche de ne pas assez mettre de version française,dans les sous-menus,ce qui est dommage,car je ne parle ni n’écrit l’anglais et je pense que je ne suis pas seul !

Could Firefox develop a decent START PAGE/HOME SCREEN like Flock’s ‘My World’? It would be a single page with all of your recently viewed websites, starred items (favorites), rss feeds & reader and media (photos, videos, podcasts). It could be an extension just like Sage. There aren’t any good RSS readers for Firefox now. I like Flock but it doesn’t have all the extensions Firefox has.Thanks.

Hallo, ich nutze den Feuerfuchs schon seit geraumer Zeit. Bisher immer zu meiner Zufriedenheit.
Seit 3 Tagen aber geschehen einige merkwürdige Dinge. Ich nutze Google als Startseite - wenn ich einen Suchbegriff eingeben werden auch Ergebnisse angezeigt. Nur, wenn ich diese Anklicke um etwas nachlesen zu können, werde ich sofort auf dubiose Werbeseiten weitergeleitet, oder aber Seiten die mein sexuelles Interesse wecken sollen.
Ein Beispiel: Ich benötige Informationen über Computer - Suchbegriff bei Google eingegeben, ebay wird angeboten. OK soweit - ich klicke den Link an und werde auf www.Partnertausch.de weitergeleitet.
Liegt es an meinen Einstellungen des Rechners oder hat es andere Ursachen.
Für jedwede Problemlösung wäre ich dankbar.

!!das komplette Markieren eines Fensters ctrl A, dann ctrl C und dann ctrl V in eine editierbare Datei bringt nur die tatsächlichen Aufrufe zwar 100% komplett rüber aber alle meine individuellen Indentifikationszeilen für Ordner und Lesezeichen werden hierbei nicht übertragen!!

hi, ref Übersetzungsprobleme von Kommunikation in irgend einer Sprache - Abhilfe wie folgt meistens möglich, solange ++mozilla++ nicht selber hilft:
!!!wähle Kombination einer Software, z.B. mozilla oder andere www-Applikationen oder Suchergebnisse direkt in einem browser + google!!!
1. öffne in einem neuen Fenster google
2. markiere Text in der zu übersetzenden Fremdsprache mit ctrl A oder ziehen mit der linken Maustaste auf dem Quellmonitor
3. dann ctrl C für Kopieren in die Zwischenablage
4. dann mit Alt TAB Wechsel zu der Seite mit dem google-Monitor
5. klicke bei google Sprachtools
6. stelle die Übersetzungssprache ein
7. dann cursor in zu übersetzendes Feld
8. dann ctrl V und starten der Übersetzung
9. dann, falls gewünscht, diese Übersetzung mittels ctrl A + Alt TAB + ctrl V in eine andere Datei oder wohin auch immer
!!!das google-Sprachniveau ist relativ zielgenau!!!

Кому не сложно! У меня какой-то бак в некоторых текстовых функциях! Исчезают все пробелы в текстовых полях??? Они возможно есть, но я их не вижу .. как мне избавиться от этого? И ещё - в некоторых страницах с видео виснет весь фокс со вкладками! .. жду вашей помощи!
Non rimpiango per niente Explorer però mi piacerebbe trovare, per esempio nel menù File, la voce per accedere al mio sito con l’opzione “Apri con ….” a cui poter associare il programma che uso per modificarlo.

Меня очень удивило, что сразу после установки Thunderbird, сразу при первой авторизации, ВСЕ письма из “входящих” на почтовом сервере исчезли (они были перемещены на мой компьютер). Я работаю в Сети с несольких рабочих мест, и иногда использую папки почтового сервера в качестве “секретного ящика” для небольших документов и файлов. Почему флажок “оставлять письма на сервере при получении” НЕ УСТАНОВЛЕН по умолчанию? Если Вы хотите освободить почтовые сервера от настоящего хлама, оставляемого тупыми пользователями на почтовых серверах, задайте вопрос при первом входе на сервер. Мне кажется, что пора отменить неудобство “THE BAT!”
Почему-то мастер настроек почтового аккаунта ничего не спрашивает о настройках SMTP сервера, а разыскать их потом в самом низу окна свойств, в качестве некоего “дополнительного аккаунта” мне удалось не сразу.
Мелкий баг - русские темы в заголовках писем отображаются с неправильным шрифтом/кодировкой.
А вообщем, спасибо за отличную работу!
I was very surprised, when immediately after Thunderbird installation, on first autorization ALL letters from ‘incoming’ on my mail server disappears (it moves to my local computer), and it was done WITHOUT any questions to me. I works in Net from different workplaces, and sometimes use folders on mail server as a “secret place” for small documents and files. Why checkbox “leave letters on server after receiving” MOT CHECK on default? If you want free mailservers from real garbage, which stupped users remain there, ask user during first login. I think, that old THE BAT! unuseful property need to be changed.
When works mail account wizard, it’s impossible to set any properties of SMTP server.It isn’t easy to find them after in accounts property window at the very bottom as a some kind of “special account”.
And minor bug - letter header field “about” displays in a wrong font/coding.

It would be nice if you made a Firefox theme pack with the best themes so that new users that doesnt wanna spend time on searching through the long list of nice themes just download the themes pack and he/she got nice themes for his/her Firefox.

me pareceria perfecto esta modalidad ya que con esto se ganaria muchos mas usuarios sin nesecidad de que ellos esten comprando softwares cargoso o pesados y que son costosos.

wenn ich mit Mozilla surfe holt er automatisch das nächste Sicherheitsupdate vom Server ab. Nun surfe ich natürlich nicht mit Administrator-Rechten (Windows XP). Niemand sollte das tun. Wenn also das Update heruntergeladen ist möchte Mozilla das Update installieren. Das kann Mozilla ohne Administratorrechten nicht. Logge ich mich um muß ich das Update erneut herunterladen und installieren.
Lösung:
1. Man prüft die Rechte und macht ggf. den Benutzer auf ein neues Update aufmerksam.
oder:
2. Man kopiert das Update an einen bekannten Ort und nach dem Umloggen und aktivieren von Mozilla wird das heruntergeladene Update instlliert.
При том, что Mozilla прекрасный быстрый, безопасный и удобный, в том числе наличием портативной версии броузер, очень не хватает возможности сохранять веб-архивы формата *.mht и в последующем с ними работать. Приходится метаться между Internet-Explorer-ом и Mozilla
In my opinion on website with add-ons there should be option ’show only
additions compatible with my version Firefox’. I was looking for new skin
for Firefox 3.0b3, I looked for several dozen of pages and I give up.
The rapidness of Firefox is different on the same computer between interfaces. Windows2000 = slow, Ubuntu = as fast as ie, Crunchbang (a linux distro with openbox instead of gnome) = quick.
I don’t know why.
I’m not interested in integration of too much extensions in it. It will be more complicated to handle for beginners. The only two I use always are adblock plus and the sessions manager (more efficient that the tab back included in the standard edition).
I will see if I’ll tag the bookmarks in ff3.0 ? Don’t really know if it will be useful. Perhaps the search in history with be more handful.
The ie7 interface wasn’t good for me before I use the skin vista-aero in ffox. When you don’t have a wheel on your mouse (like in the Asus eeepc), I like the ability to add a new tab easily and the access to the bookmarks or history at a click on the left (So I can hide the personal toolbar and win some space on that 7inch screen).
So the interface can change to that way :
+ no state bar at the bottom (the info can be elsewhere like on that access to bookmarks or history on the left or icon in adressbar and so on)
+ the search bar can be in that menu too
+ a button for the whole menu items like a MSWindow’s start button
The objective could be to have only one line for the icons and url adresses and sometimes the tab bar too. In that last possibility, the tab should have only a number. The name and the thumbnail of the content should be shown only when we fly over that numbers. I would be very interesting to see what it could be in a eeepc like computer with that kind of skin.

I would like to give the following idea:
- When a new window is opened, it could be integrated into the tabs of another browser that is available. For example, i have two (2) browsers opened. I type “URL1″ into BROWSER1. Then, from BROWSER2 i ask BROWSER1 to quit and share current data of “URL1″ into a tab of BROWSER2 without loosing anything.
This idea does not exists in ANY browser.
