About
Hello, you’re reading the Mozilla weblog of Gen Kanai.
I am currently a member of the Evangelism team and the Director of Asia Business Development for Mozilla, a California-based non-profit organization which manages and freely distributes the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser. Firefox is the free and open source web browser of choice for over 300 million Internet users worldwide in over 70 different languages. I am also Director of Asia Business Development for Mozilla Japan and previously held the Director of Marketing role at Mozilla Japan.
Although my title says “business development” in fact I am involved in many activities beyond business development including supporting Mozilla’s localization communities, marketing efforts as well as evangelism across Asia.
Prior to Mozilla, I have worked for Digital Garage, Technorati Japan, Sony Marketing of Japan, Sony Electronics Inc. and Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc.
I am a 2006-7 fellow of the US-Japan Foundation’s US-Japan Leadership Program as well as a 2009 fellow of the Asia Society’s Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative.
I have a BA from Dartmouth College, am proud to be born and raised in New York City and currently reside in Tokyo.
I will try to keep this blog focused on Mozilla in Asia news but I’ll most likely drift around to various topics of my own interest (Mozilla-related).
