  • We’ll be testing 3.0.x -> 3.5 updates with partner distributions. Expectation is that fallback will be used (no separate MU offers required), but need to confirm.

  • Yandex as default is in place for 3.1b3 (thanks L10n) for the Russian locale
  • Google notified that start page hostnames were changed for 3.1bx/3.5, confirmed this won’t cause any issues

    • AVG-caused breaking enter button in location bar is still top issue.
  • .NET in useragent also affects third party extension sites which can serve the wrong extension version or say not compatible: i.e. Google toolbar.
  • What could cause dictionaries to disappear? Some users have trouble with spell checker that installing a dictionary fixes.
    • Axel wonders if this is a 3.0.x installed over 2.x deal due to the change from myspell -> hunspell in 3.0

    • we need someone from QA to ensure that an install-over (not upgrade) from 2.0.0.11 -> 3.0.0x

    • RRRT report: The RRRT Team (thanks Rey!) got a report about Problems/Timeouts during the Updates to Firefox 3.0.6. After investigation also other people have seen this Problem. RRRT has informed Release – Drivers and Sam has throttled Updates bug 476875 – Tomcat
    • Tracking any other issues and ensuring this one is fixed
  • Firefox 3.0.7
    • Mostly code froze last night

    • Might take two or three more bugs
    • In QA testing now

  • The issue with update is causing people to get error messages, will keep RRRT appraised. Quick search gave 5 new threads (some with multiple people) in the past 24 hours.

  • Firefox 2.0.0.20 -> 3.0.5 Major Update

    • About 1.5mm people converted so far (since Jan 8th offer)

    • 14mm users remain on Firefox 2 (7mm users of that are on Firefox 2.0.0.20)
    • remaining number of Windows 95/98 users not significant
    • large number of Firefox 2 users report “other” as OS
  • Firefox 3.0.6
    • Builds are made and QA is testing them

    • On track for beta release next Tuesday
    • Final release is scheduled for February 3 but will likely move to February 4 to accommodate Firefox 3.1 and bug 471816

Firefox 2.0.0.x / 3.0.x

  • Firefox 2.0.0.20 -> 3.0.5 Major Update

    • Shipped January 8 (six days ago)

    • Uptake isn’t very good yet, but still monitoring
  • Firefox 3.0.6
    • Code frozen (minus one bug, which we may or may not take)

    • QA is currently testing
    • If all goes well, will start builds Monday, January 19
    • Aiming for final release date in early February
  • Firefox 3.0.7 (no wiki link yet!)
    • Targeting one month after 3.0.6

    • Look for a post to dev-planning about final schedule by Friday
