October 24th, 2007 at 2:24 am
I smell an up and coming series of frivolous lawsuits. Hehe, this is a great idea though. Keep the good work up, Mozilla!
October 24th, 2007 at 2:42 am
The idea is awesome. But is so disappointing for Mozilla (particularly firefox) fans here in India as the contest is not open for India. I have already blogged my grievance soon it might catch the wind …
October 24th, 2007 at 2:51 am
internet explorer is not worth using all those annoying pop-up ads and all…i think we should really help in spreading firefox….it simply ROXXX…

October 24th, 2007 at 3:28 am
It’s a pity that this contest is not extended to Europe mainly Portugal …
October 24th, 2007 at 3:28 am
Hey,
Im a uk resident and can’t compete but has anyone had the idea of sticking the firefox logo on Microsofts Headquarters at Redmond that could even make world news ‘Microsoft Mocked completely by Mozilla’ obviously ground security may not let you but if thier HQ is as secure as thier browser you should have no problems
obviously placing that plan in the security section
October 24th, 2007 at 3:30 am
excellent idea, haha im just wondering, is this applicable to the rest of the world?
October 24th, 2007 at 3:40 am
RE: Weirdo
That may have been the most stupid question ever….

October 24th, 2007 at 5:14 am
Wow, great idea, this should really catch peoples attention. Are we actually aloud to do this though? Doesn’t it count as vandalism? I’ll be ordering one of them today though. Check out my site, http://mattsnow.co.nr/ it supports firefox, theres banners everywhere and even a firefox page!
October 24th, 2007 at 5:17 am

October 24th, 2007 at 5:24 am
“WEIRDO” is as his name states, a freak. WE LURVE YOU MOZILLA!!!!

October 24th, 2007 at 5:26 am
OMFG I want that Mac Notebook! This is a great idea! Once again Firefox proves how cool they are by having a contest like this.. (I don’t see Internet Explorer having a contest like this.) Yay for Firefox and the Creators of Firefox!
October 24th, 2007 at 5:36 am
Hmm… got to get the crew on this one, so many places in O-Town… >:D
October 24th, 2007 at 5:59 am

Nooo…! Mozilla is tricking you all, spread the message of Internet explorer and be amazed at the slow speeds and await the breathtaking system crashes that Microsoft offer!
October 24th, 2007 at 6:58 am
Great idea guys, shame you do not have a UK office.
@ weirdo, if you don’t know the answer to that yourself there is no point in explaining it.
October 24th, 2007 at 7:02 am
Why don’t we find out who this “Weirdo is and flog him for blasphemy.
October 24th, 2007 at 7:28 am
Replying to Weirdo:
I’ll tell you why we don’t use Internet Explorer instead …
maybe because we all want to use a browser in the true meaning of the word … i rest my case
October 24th, 2007 at 7:31 am
“Weirdo”
Who let you post 0.o >:P
October 24th, 2007 at 7:37 am
Firefox is the best. Great idea.
October 24th, 2007 at 7:58 am
Slightly miffed that we can’t be part of the operation here in the UK. Not sure if this is a good idea though, is making FireFox more popular a good thing? The last thing we want is for it to reach a critical mass such as that malicious coders actually start writing stuff for it!
October 24th, 2007 at 8:02 am
NONONONONONONONONO! It’s not as good as FIREFOX!
October 24th, 2007 at 8:10 am
…but who will pay for your advertising???? O-O-OPS, again rich(read well-known) becomes richer ? But new ideas is hard to be created in garage!
With best wishes
October 24th, 2007 at 8:14 am

October 24th, 2007 at 8:39 am
But why all-caps? ;(
October 24th, 2007 at 8:44 am
Great idea, awesome browser awesome ideas to publicise it as well
October 24th, 2007 at 8:44 am
Oh my goodness. I just know that somehow, somebody (won’t be me), will somehow get a Fathead sticker to appear at Fenway Park during the World Series. That would be AWESOME.
October 24th, 2007 at 8:51 am
i hate you mozilla!
October 24th, 2007 at 9:01 am
Internet Explorer Sucks!

October 24th, 2007 at 9:11 am

October 24th, 2007 at 9:26 am

October 24th, 2007 at 9:36 am

October 24th, 2007 at 9:41 am
This is the best idea I’ve encountered in a long time… I love Firefox and how great it really works for me.I’ve been talking about Firefox to all my friends and family for a while now… I really do think it’s time to spread the Firefox name out to everyones attention. It’s going to be Awesome! : )

Go To http://www.freewebs.com/nothingsuspicoushere
October 24th, 2007 at 11:33 am
Oh, now whoever made this plan deserves a cookie! Not sure if Northern California has a good place for it, but I certainly will be looking…and recruiting the rest of my college to do it too.
October 24th, 2007 at 12:02 pm
Aside from my concern at using all caps and a Dreamweaver-built table-based design for this website, I am very concerned about this promotion. Don’t get me wrong, I love Firefox and use it everyday but it seems more and more like the Mozilla Corporation is acting like a business rather than a non-profit.
Doesn’t anyone remember the huge stickers Microsoft put up? Even if they are removable, they are graffiti and Mozilla will be liable.
Ads by corporations are everywhere, so prevalent that groups like Adbusters, Anti-Advertising Agency, Billboard Liberation Front, and others are battling to stop them. We don’t need more ads by another corporation.
October 24th, 2007 at 12:13 pm
…
SERIOUSLY, CAN’T THIS TIME SPENT TARNISHING THE IMAGE OF FIREFOX USERS BE SPENT ADDING THE MUCH NEEDED FUNCTIONS INTO FIREFOX THAT OTHER BROWSERS SUCH AS OPERA CURRENTLY HAVE?
SORRY, BUT THIS IS GOING TO GENERATE MORE NEGATIVE FANBOY-ISM THAN GOOD PUBLICITY.
October 24th, 2007 at 12:20 pm
Wow this is a cool comp, I’M A free runner so it should be a breeze! P.S. The sticker looooooookkkkkksssss awsome.
p.p.s bill gates should stick internet explorer somewear!
October 24th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
Really? Is your marketing team that lazy? A contest to get people to do advertising for you for free is pretty unbelievable. I love firefox, but this is lame.
October 24th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
I love Moxilla Foxfire and have always used it since the inception. I stopped using IE for along time. R
October 24th, 2007 at 1:34 pm
I plan to brain storm for ideas on this. I live in Seattle, WA… So a sticker here would really hit at the heart of Microsoft! Maybe a huge one on the side of the BOA building! (if only it was legal).
October 24th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
Absolute corker of an idea!!!! just awaiting my poster
October 25th, 2007 at 1:55 am
The Mozilla community is one of the most secure and well thought out browers even to be built, It wasn’t just thrown together cause they needed to please their customers. This is an awesome idea to get people involved with a corporation who goes above and beyond for the public. The Internet is a major part of our lives and will be for years to come . We all should say Thanx and appreciate the work that Mozilla has put in to firebox to make it a wonderful to access the net. I would be honored to spread the word about Firefox. I’ve expressed my ideas to Verizon cause Firefox would work out much better with Verizon instead of I.E.7 Good Luck lets spread the word!!!!
October 25th, 2007 at 4:39 am
To Mozilla and all reading my blog I wrote this in the wee hours of the am and just noticed a typo error its small but still.lol Mozzila merging with Verizon for online Internet access would an ideal set up. I hope Bill Gates comes back to read this too. Its not a Microsoft monopoly world anymore and its about time for a change.
October 25th, 2007 at 8:53 am
[...] So what are you waiting for? Sign up and help spread the word. [...]
October 25th, 2007 at 9:36 am
Someone just has to drop a sticker at Microsoft’s Redmond Campus! That would be the coup de grĂ¢ce.
October 25th, 2007 at 10:34 am
This is all nonsense
October 25th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
@ Liam & Sneaky
You see, Microsoft showed that it’s the most aggressive that wins. The only way to beat that is to be original. And what can be better for originality than stuff random people made up? Our force is in numbers and unpredictability!
And putting it up on Redmond office would be awesome, true… But I’m afraid that it will be taken down all too soon
October 25th, 2007 at 5:40 pm
I think this is really awesome, especially all the ideas. I just wish I was older and not living in a crappy little city in northern California. Still, I agree with the idea of slapping one on the side of Microsoft’s Redmond campus, but I think it would be best to put it right next to the Microsoft logo (which most likely faces a highway or large street). Also, to everybody who thinks that Mozilla is liable for these things, you are wrong, because the rules say that by participating you waive their liability. In other words, Mozilla is NOT liable for anything, and if Microsoft tries to sue, they aren’t liable, but you are. Either way, good luck, and have fun!
P.S. I highly doubt that Microsoft has guards with bullet-proof vests and the latest and greatest weaponry guarding the Microsoft sign. If you just sneak in, you should actually be able to get it posted without any trouble at all. Simply have somebody keep watch, know where the cameras are, have the poster stowed away, and put it up quickly. You might also want to use super-glue so that it stays up until you get a chance to get a picture of it and people get a good look at it.
October 26th, 2007 at 1:55 am
leget it started
October 26th, 2007 at 1:57 am
lets get it started then.
October 26th, 2007 at 2:01 am
i love the newer vergin better.
October 26th, 2007 at 9:09 am
i agree with stupid people. firefox rocks so shut up all of u who r saying it sucks.
October 26th, 2007 at 9:10 am
that would be funny if some1 stuck a sticker on buckingham palace or the white house
October 26th, 2007 at 9:11 am
woot is right
October 26th, 2007 at 10:53 am
YOU are talking about going company level.
If you don’t think enterprise you are never going to get there.
I dont know if you know the word MANAGEMENT. That’s what companies want.
I firefox dont put aside the stupid idea of a configuration file instead of Registry/GPO support you are not going anywhere in many places where Windows Server rules. It doesn’t matter if the code for Windows differs from other OSs.
Be smart and dont think about what the individual user wants. Think big and you will capture companies. I dont care if you dont like reality but thats why software companies are not able to beat MS at that level. The first idea always for MS is Central Management.
Think about it. If you want to go enterprise get rid of your pride and use great MS technologies that they have created. Only a stupid person can say that the Registry/GPO idea is stupid
October 26th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
in response to the whole not being able to compete, you can still have a little fun and buy a couple stickers and place them on like microsoft’s HQ or ect. just for SHits and GigGles
October 26th, 2007 at 5:04 pm
I just sent them a 7 page plan on how I’d like to do a region/us fire fox event featuring known artists like crystal method, daft punk, etc. Viva la Revoloution through music!
October 27th, 2007 at 5:55 am
This mission seems to have several stages. I can’t find anything in The Rules for Operatoin Firefox that state what happens after winners have been chosen. The rules state when the winning plans will be selected but nothing about when the deadline for when the plan must be executed. When are the winners expected to execute their plan? I thought that might be an important detail because potential entrants will want to think about the weather and other factors for that time of year when they are expected to complete their plan.
October 27th, 2007 at 9:11 am
on the globe in front of the daily planet//—hold it reality check…
October 27th, 2007 at 9:28 am
what about on hubble-site entire collection
October 28th, 2007 at 3:43 pm
Ok, for fuck sakes people..firewox owns IE..but stop reamin on Microsoft..I bet over 3/4 of u are using a windows operating system right now..and over 60% of those are pirated…so stop bitchin about the company that basically owns the computer OS business..if microsoft and firefox were competing, microsoft would’ve restrited the installation of firefox on a windows OS ages ago
October 29th, 2007 at 8:03 am
Well, for the people not included, it is just legalities and I am sure no offense was made. For those looking to violate law, it says they are looking for ‘legal’ ideas for public display, not ’sneaking’ in to MS campuses and tagging buildings (however fun that would be!!).
What a creative way to advertise. Just FYI for those who did not read all of the information on the contest, the sticker is to be removed from public display following the announcement of the winner. So, those of you thinking they are just using us users of the Mozilla genius, it is not us marketing for them, it is them getting ideas for marketing. Complete Genius!!!
I entered! Go do it for those who haven’t. However silly the idea seems, it just might be the winner!!
October 30th, 2007 at 10:47 am
FIREFOX FTW!!! W00T!
October 30th, 2007 at 5:59 pm
