The Reach of the Mission
Currently, headquarters has been offered permission to host this contest in most of the countries where we have offices, including Japan, China, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. We are disappointed that the contest does not reach further, and this arises from our legal counsel’s concerns with liability that we would encounter in different countries. However, this does not close the door for future contests, for which we will do better to develop a contest that can be more global. But for now, unfortunately, only the countries mentioned above can participate.

I am fairly certain that there will be disappointments in other areas, but those countries seem like places that will have more places to put a sticker of that size where a lot of people can see it.

Why is New Zealand a eligible country and Australia is not…… Australia is much bigger then New Zealand and has a lot of places that would be great to place a sticker of this magnitude.
October 24th, 2007 at 6:09 pm
What! - you have an office in NZ & not Australia??
Go the Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Australia Zoo (a la Steve Irwin) ….
V. serious & genuine question:
what do you require to set up an office in Australia - we have PayPal Australia, and The Fox Transport network??? (I network with various state & federal depts re: export of e-products)
Get the FOX fired up!

CANADA, NEW ZEALAND, JAPAN, CHINA AND THE USA, BUT NOT AUSTRALIA!
I HAVE A TEAM TOGETHER THAT CAN DESIGN AND EXECUTE AN EXCEPTIONAL PLAN.
PLEASE CONSIDER AUSTRALIA IN THIS COMP!
October 24th, 2007 at 11:33 pm
Oh, how about Malaysia? What a shame and a waste that it does not seem to be available here.
And I was just getting excited at the possibility, especially so since I have got a strip of a couple of smaller Mozilla stickers from a local security conference recently.
The thought of having a big huge sticker in campus would be really awesome and greatly increase awareness and visibility of Mozilla (Firefox) especially in my University newly built IT faculty building.

im from New Zealand and i just dont get why places like the UK and Australia arent able to enter since compared to us they are giant countries

October 25th, 2007 at 1:30 am
This has brought great disappointment to me that its not entirely over the world yet !
Its amazing how laws can catch you for advertising in public places ;[
Well the northeast coast of Scotland will not be seeing a sticker then ?

October 25th, 2007 at 4:50 pm

October 26th, 2007 at 12:37 pm
Yup, don’t understand why the UK doesn’t have a Firefox office. It’s big enough over here. Should have one :(.
Oh well, maybe next time.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:04 pm
dudes..seriously i got disappointed here.. i cannot enter this competition only because i don’t live in US or few other countries which were mentioned?
really i got disappointed here, cause please tell me, how many guys have opportunity to post sticker on top of the power plant chimney (some 500m height) or on a Blast Furnace top (making the blast outta internet), or post it on my CEO’s Audi A6 (my company employs some 5000+ employees)… there’s more ideas comming up, but since i am not able to proceed with this “mission” disappointment takes in.. take care dudes, but have in mind that firefox is not limited to US or Japan, or New Zealand.. there are ppl outside those countries with firefox as default browser. can u imagine that? for real? LoL
October 26th, 2007 at 11:39 pm
Would be great location here in the UK, on Blackpool Tower. Pity we can’t enter.
October 27th, 2007 at 6:50 am
The Radio City tower in Liverpool, UK would be an excellent spot
October 28th, 2007 at 4:44 am

October 28th, 2007 at 7:25 am
TRUE ENOUGH, THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE IN ASIA ESPECIALLY HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES WITH FIREFOX AS DEFAULT BROWSER. AS A MATTER OF FACT, WITH THE SUDDEN BOOM OF DIFFERENT SORTS OF DSLS AND BROADBANDS OFFERED, ALMOST EVERY HOUSEHOLD HERE USES THE WEB EVERY DAY AND NIGHT AND I PERSONALLY THINK ITS TIMELY TO PACK IT WITH FIREFOX. MAKE IT WORLDWIDE… A PERFECT SPOT HERE IS WAITING!
October 28th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
what about a US Military Base my plans original our address here is American
October 28th, 2007 at 2:41 pm
There are quite a few Firefox users in Latin America, it truly disappoints me that this contest is limited. But I guess it can’t be helped. Hopefully future contests will include Latin American countries such as Colombia or Argentina.
October 28th, 2007 at 2:59 pm
can you idiots stop complaining about it not being in Australia or the UK? And stop suggesting places that the government owns, they probably won’t let you do it for security reasons.
October 28th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
Yeah go NZ!
October 28th, 2007 at 10:15 pm
Perhaps (?) these countries have laws that make it difficult for Mozilla and their insurers or legal counsel to approve of this contest. Or maybe I’m wrong and they just don’t have an office in those countries. W/o ever caring or looking into it, I would guess UK and Australia do have offices but have more restrictive laws. Obviously they’ve gone to lengths to cover themselves legally, but imagine trying to determine the legality of liability laws in foreign countries, it’s probably hard to get clear answers.
October 29th, 2007 at 12:19 am
On “The Edge” in Melbourne, Australia would be an awesome spot.. although how to get it there is the difficult part…
October 30th, 2007 at 11:18 am
is the uk ok?
October 30th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
I can’t quite believe that you don’t have offices in the UK…or not even any in Europe!!!! Imagine that sticker on the side of a red London bus…or on the gates of Buckingham palace!
October 31st, 2007 at 5:59 am
Everyone: The countries that are allowed were not chosen on a whim, but were selected for legal reasons. Mozilla has said they are already working to expand the contest for next time.
I’m actually amazed that they got permission to do this in China. I hope it’s not like Google, who agreed to help censor the web.
