I haven’t seen this blogged yet, so I’m going to scoop it. :)

Good news! Adobe has just published a PDF covering the internals of Tamarin, the next generation JS engine that Adobe and Mozilla are collaborating on.

Adobe ActionScript Virtual Machine 2 (AVM2) Overview (PDF, 400K)
The AVM2 Overview describes the instructions, associated data structures, and file format supported by the AVM2.

I’m sure it was a lot of work to get this cleared for publication. Congratulations to the team at Adobe!

Yes, I’m a geek, and I’ve already been making my way through the doc; I love this stuff :-)

    BTW, some thoughts here: http://www-03.ibm.com/developerworks/blogs/page/pmuellr?entry=browser_scripting

What I’m not clear on is whether AVM2 == Tamarin or AVM2 JIT == Tamarin; I thought the early news on Tamarin was that it was a JIT, so I’m thinking “is it ONLY the JIT?” That doesn’t make too much sense, really, but … who knows.
