Tank, they need an exit

Operations is so, so weird. They all work, all the time. No, really though, all the time. And not just on-call, all of them. All the time. It’s 10pm right now, they’re working. There isn’t some launch tomorrow, and this isn’t a fire-drill. It’s just another night. During lunch time, they talk about work. They work before they get into the office, where they do more work, then they go home and work from there. Work isn’t this thing they go to everyday, it’s the constant that occasionally gets interrupted by the rest of their lives. And they’re all okay with it because they’re in Ops and there’s no such thing as after hours. They keep things running. All the time.
Beautiful love story. And cool Matrix reference
I think you’ll find that true of a lot of dev as well =)
Are they all wearing suits, ties, and sunglasses?
Among many other things, there was a http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/ release last night, but yes I agree, Operations is silently working away all the time. Much respect.
Good that someone speaks this out loud. Ops get too little credit for their work. Everybody knows about them when something goes wrong, but in fact that this happens so rarely and that an incredible mass of things is running flawlessly almost all the time deserves some credit.
Oh, and I don’t think they’ll take the exit. You know, they usually know there’s just more work waiting when the phone starts ringing…
