This Program’s Name
October 26th, 2006 by seth bindernagel
Last week, I blogged about how the community program is evolving and that we might work to rename “community giving”. Since then, I have been trying to ask around to see what nouns and adjectives might help define this program. Here are some words I have heard. What do you think?
- Development
- Give-back
- Investment
- Resource allocation
- Venture
- Enrichment
- Facilitation
- Empowerment
- Encompassing
- Participant
- Good Citizen
- Citizenship
- Thriving
- Inspiring
- Create
- Do More
- Incentive
- Attention
- Removing barriers
If you think there are a few words that summarize what we doing, please email me. Thanks.
Most of this sounds odd to me.
Well, maybe Facilitation or Incentive.
Mozilla Community Rewards
Engagement?
“Community Investment” and “Community empowerment” are my favorites form this list.
Most of these sound like management-speak, and/or a bit patronising.
Community Assistance?
I think we should keep the word “Community”, because that’s the best encompassing word that doesn’t reference whether a person is paid or not (like “Volunteer” does).
Assistance demonstrates that we are helping people to do what they are already doing better, which is the point.
Along the same lines, there’s also “Community Boost”.
