The deadline for proposing a Project is 28th of this month. However, if there are folks willing to turn up at the Project Day, I'd love to see the following:

+ talk on Mozilla/Firefox/Thunderbird roadmap (a keynote type)
+ technical talk on the following:
 - contributing to the L10n
 - creating extensions
 - discussion of OPEN issues pertaining to Indic
 - translation sprint perhaps
 - Lightning Project (?)

Time is running out and I don't really see anyone stepping up to propose a day.

Surely their will be a huge participation from the Indian developer community for the Mozilla's Project Day event at FOSS.in.

Last year, I am one of the organizer of the"<a href="http://i5bala.blogspot.com/2006/10/mozilla-firefox-party-live-action-from.html" rel="nofollow">Mozilla Firefox Party</a>" in Chennai - India, it had a great response.

So, I strongly feel you must organize such an event.

Thanks

Personally, I'd love to see Mozilla make it to the Project Days event at FOSS.in. I am sure that others like me from Chennai, would have loved to meet your team in person during your tour in August, but we look forward to meeting you when you visit India next, which will hopefully be in the near future. 8 )

If we did have a Project Day, I would love to see a discussion about open source in Indian academics (I have heard a lot of people talk about how Microsoft-centric India is... is there any truth to that?).

I am currently trying to revive the "Mozilla University" initiative that Chofmann helped put together a few years ago... and want to find out if students and professors in India are interested in a curriculum built on open source projects. Localizers have been helping out for a while, but why not get more folks interested in helping us test and develop Firefox? I see colleges and universities (maybe even secondary/high schools) as the best place to plant that seed.

I think this would be a good idea. What is required is an on-ground proposer who is going to be the contact between the foss.in team and the Mozilla team. Might be a good idea to have a half day translation sprint even.
